Journalist Turned Job Hunt Expert Available For Recurring Skype Interviews re: Tips for Viewers (contact Paul here)
A Perfect Addition To Your Market's Morning Show!
Recent New York Times reports say one-third of unemployed Americans have been without a job for six months or longer. As those Americans deal the grim outlook, TV journalist Paul Matadeen is putting his extra time to good use.
Matadeen founded http://ItsTheJOBBLOG.com in the Summer of 2009 (now http://JobHuntNews.com) when he experienced a layoff from the news business himself. The website publishes regular interviews with employment experts tackling topics like investing, fitness, and even featuring web tools to make the job hunt easier. Many of the guests to the site have been featured on national media outlets like CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC. Others are contributors to popular career websites like The Ladders.com.
"There's a reason we call it 'the place to go when work is slow," Matadeen said. "When you lose your job, life often becomes chaotic. I believe this site offers advice from experts, giving job seekers a starting point to begin the new chapter in life.
Matadeen says he has received the most feedback from interviews about resume writing and social networking.
"A resume expert told us to stop listing personal information like martial status on the document," he said. "While I don't know what people were actually putting on their resumes, I heard from a number of listeners who said they decided to revamp their resume after listening to the interview."
Matadeen said many people also remain unclear about how to use social networking to find new job leads.
"The most questions I get are about the site 'Linked In.' A social networking expert told me people get confused because the site is so straight-forward and direct."
Matadeen has worked for NBC affiliates in Panama City, Florida; Raleigh, NC; Columbia, MO; and Austin, TX. He also works as a freelance producer for the Fox News Channel.
Paul is available for recurring skype interviews for your morning show with varying tips based on what's being published on the site. He also offers hourly job consulting for individuals who need a partner in their job hunt.
He can be reached by calling (512) 814-7226 or by emailing matadeen@gmail.com. Matadeen is based in Las Vegas, Nevada.
